USA
Patriot Act or International Criminal Court

Beginning this August, the
ACLU has been running television
ad's to express support for curbs on extreme portions of the
USA
Patriot Act, due to "sunset" in 2005. The
Pavo News finds itself in the rare position of at least considering
the ACLU's stance. Any laws that reduce our privacy or diminish
our civil liberties demand extreme scrutiny. In times of national
emergency or crisis, it may be necessary to curtail or suspend certain
liberties but such actions should never become the standing law
of the land and should be scheduled for frequent review until such
time as they are no longer required.
The Patriot Act may provide the necessary means for law enforcement
to prosecute the domestic war on terror, but the ACLU is correct
to question the breadth and scope of the law. Constitutional rights
must never be sacrificed for the illusion of security nor be eclipsed
by internal or external powers. The law must always be subject to
the will of the people so that it may be repealed or abolished in
an instant.
While the ACLU questions certain aspects of the Patriot ACT during
this election cycle, they have been completely silent with respect
to the International
Criminal Court (ICC). This globalist, 'new world order'
ambition of establishing an international tribunal, independent
of and transcending the sovereignty of all nations, may very well
end democracy and independence as we know it. It would seem logical
that the ACLU would regard this as a subject of immense importance
given that we have two Presidential contenders with entirely opposing
views on ICC inclusion.
President Bush is firmly against signing a treaty to join the ICC,
as any reasonable American and defender of the Constitution should
be (more info at Cato
Institute and RenewAmerica.us).
Sen. Kerry, on the other hand, fully supports America's capitulation
to this foreign organization (see
question no. 9). There is nothing more terrifying or more revealing
about Kerry's plan for the US, than this admission.
If you need any reason at all not to vote for Kerry, this is number
one on the list. Can you imagine the United States and its citizens
subject to a rule of law dispensed from an international body, not
subject to our Constitution and possessing about as much integrity
as the United Nations? For the sake of your freedom, reflect upon
the subject long and hard!
